2017 Solar Eclipse

Solar Eclipse 2017

On Monday, August 21st, 2017 a solar eclipse will affect the activities within Silver Schools.  The solar eclipse is an exciting and engaging educational opportunity, which also raises some concerns about safety.  The eclipse will begin in Grant County about 10:19 A.M. and will finish about 1:10 P.M.  To ensure the safety and security of our students and staff, SCSD has decided to cancel all normal outdoor activities during the time of the eclipse.  This includes outdoor lunch, recess, and PE.  Classes that have proper eye protection of either solar eclipse glasses or a pinhole camera, and that have approved their participation through their site administrator may be allowed to be outside.  If your child is a member of one of these classes and you would like to opt-out of the lesson, please contact your school.
The following links provide information regarding the eclipse, safety, path of totality, and alternate viewing methods.
